Well hello there my sexy experimenters with life, love and
sex! Let's all lift up our wine glasses and toast a big salute to red
wine time; my favourite! Did you know that according to a study carried
out in Florence, drinking one to two glasses of red wine a day
increases female sexual desire. No wonder I'm so
.......................... How's that you say? The researched study
investigated 789 Italian women aged between 18 and 50. Drinking red
wine not only helped to release inhibitions, but also had a direct
effect on sexual activity. Women who drink one to two glasses of wine a
day were found to be more sexually active than those who abstain.
Hmmm, sounds kinda of tipsy to me; but I'm in, as any European would be!
This study, and I dug up many; has also revealed that drinking red wine may have some surprising health benefits not previously recognized. This wonderful beverage may actually increase women's sexual desire and it ties in with higher sexual health in women, especially older women. Ladies, it's time to get festive with this one!
Part of this Florence study, detailed that the participants were split into three groups; those who regularly consumed one or two glasses of red wine a day, those who consumed less than one glass a day, of any other sort of alcohol, and those who drank no alcohol at all. However, the women who drank more than two glasses a day were excluded from the study to avoid staggering effects of drunkenness! Ya think?? The women were then asked to complete a questionnaire known as the Female Sexual Function Index. The FSF Index includes 19 questions which doctors used to assess woman’s sexual health. The score range is between 2 and 36, a higher score meaning better sexual function. Long story short, the outcome was that the red wine drinkers scored higher at an average of 27.3 points, compared to 25.9 for the less frequent drinkers and 24.4 for the non-drinkers. Researchers were even more astonished at the results because the red wine drinkers were, on average, OLDER than the other groups, and sexual decline is closely associated with age.
The researchers don't know for sure why moderate red wine drinking was associated with a higher sex drive; but they surmise that the high level of antioxidants dilates blood vessels, allowing more blood to flow to the sexual key erogenous zones. Increased blood flow IS one of the physiological signs of sexual arousal. So, could drinking two glasses of any kind of alcohol every day actually be healthy for you? Does it provide more health benefits than a session of yoga, a leisurely walk, a relaxing massage, listening to soothing music, or enjoying your favourite activity? Red wine is a classic aphrodisiac, especially when suitably spiced. So for instance, red burgundy wine mixed with ginger, cinnamon, cloves, vanilla, and a natural sugar is known as Hippocrates Aphrodisiac. And aside from being a potent aphrodisiac, red wine is also known for being a good mood setter; as long as it's consumed moderately of course.
Let's get down to the chemistry of all this. Just take a look
at red wine, and what it contains. It has high levels of resveratrol.
This little antioxidant is known for its ability to increase the amount
of estrogen produced by the female body. Estrogen is that sexy little
hormone in women, and secretion of estrogen increases your desire for
sex. Red wine is the ONLY recommended alcohol that seems to have a
positive sexual effect in women. So what happens from this point on?
Well, a chain reaction of course! What happens is, a bigger sex drive
gives you the desire for sex; hence sexual energy is then stimulated
from sexual play; then the increase of estrogen stems out from that
pleasure, getting you back on the road to enjoying sex and keeping your
hormones happier than ever! And what is really cool, is when you look
after happy hormones; they bounce around acting like little children
